I can’t linger with you this morning because I have a table covered in half-decorated cookies and I’m pretty sure the mom who ordered them for her little boy’s birthday is expecting fully-decorated cookies. At least I think she is if I remember correctly. For that reason, I’m just going to skip my typical meandering style of blogging and cut to the chase.
I have cookies to give away.
Not just any old cookies but Browned Butter Pecan cookies and believe me when I tell you that any cookie recipe beginning with browned butter is one ladder rung higher to heaven than all other cookies. Don’t ask me how I know. I just do.
The other day I pulled it out and using my Brown Butter Pecan cookie dough I made these.
That’s 10 very big Brown Butter Pecan cookies. And they could be yours.
But I’m not going to send them to you that way.
I’m going to send them to you this way.
On the back of each box is a Sweet Hope Cookie logo sticker. Inside each box tucked next to a cookie is a red ALS awareness bracelet. Your task is to give these three cookies away to three people outside of your own family. Three people who might not know anything about ALS until you hand them the cookie and tell them. Then they’ll know. Tell them an amazing man named Randy died from ALS and his crazy sister started baking cookies to raise money for The ALS Association because it was the only thing she could think of doing besides crying and throwing things which over the long haul didn’t seem like all that productive of an option. Then point to the sticker and tell them to come here because from here they can go here and here. Then point to the red ALS awareness band and encourage them to wear it if only for a week or two. Then point to the cookie and tell them to eat it.
Can you think of a sweeter way to help spread awareness about a disease that’s taken the lives of more than 7560 people since my handsome, brilliant, compassionate and wildly funny brother died 504 days ago. It’s a brutal disease. Relentless. No doubt about it. But there’s also incredible hope and you can be part of that hope by sharing a cookie and a little awareness with three people.
The only thing better than spreading the word about ALS and the amazing work of The ALS Association to three people would be spreading the word to…oh….I don’t know….let’s say…nine people.
That’s right. I made 30 cookies so that means 3 of you will get 10 cookies each. 21 of those cookies to be eaten in the privacy of your homes and 9 of those to be given away. Think about it.
Nine more people who will learn about ALS. Nine more people who will hear about my brother Randy. Nine more people who will visit my blog. And maybe, just maybe, nine more people who will keep The ALS Association on their radar the next time they feel generous and want to empty the change in their pockets in a direction that would really make a difference in this world.
Do you want to be 1 of the 3 who eats 7 and gives away 3?
All you have to do to enter is just promise in the comment section below that if you had 10 cookies you’d give away 3. That’s all. Just add a comment that says, “I promise” and tomorrow evening around 8:00 p.m. (PST) I’ll randomly choose three of you and then I’ll post those three names over on Facebook.
(If you end up being one of the three winners, PLEASE send me an email or Facebook message as soon as you see
you’ve won so I can get the cookies out immediately in the mail. Don’t make me hunt you down.)
Oh, there’s one more thing you have to do to win. You have to live in the United States.
For my friends living outside the United States, now might be a good time to consider moving here.
